Cultural Experience

Japanese cultural experience programs for foreign people are basically conducted in English. Please make inquiries if you need other languages. Japanese people can also join the programs.

Yukata (Casual Kimono) Wearing and and Tea Ceremony (TC09)

In this program you will have the unique chance to wear a Yukata (a light cotton kimono) with an Obi (a sash) of your choice before attending Tea Ceremony. Assisted by the instructor, you will learn how to dress yourself in a Yukuta. At the time of the booking, at your option, you can sign up to purchase the Yukata and obi that you will wear on the day, so that you can take them home with you.

Then in a Japanese tea room, you will learn the basic terms, utensils and customs associated with the art of Tea Ceremony. Then you will enjoy eating classic Japanese sweets and drinking Matcha (powdered green tea) which the tea master skillfully serves. Finally you will try to make tea with the tea master's guidance. Through this process, in a very refined space, you will explore the origin of Japanese aesthetics, sensing "wabi", "sabi", and genuine, gracious hospitality. We will help you take photos in the tea room.

*Programs will be held at Koryuan or at special halls made for specific purposes in Tokyo and Kansai areas (including Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe). You can meet your guide at the nearest station to the location of those experiences to take place.

Step2: IJCEE will send back to you and inform whether or not the program is available.

Step3: Please purchase ticket(s) from below. You can pay with your credit card, debit card and PayPal acount.
