Kimono Dressing and Tea Ceremony (TC10)

Kimono dressing and Tea Ceremony are both at the heart of Japanese Culture. In this program you will have the unique chance to wear a beautiful Kimono and then attend the Tea Ceremony.

First you will experience and explore many aspects of the Kimono, particularly its origins stemming from the traditional skills of Japanese "dyeing" and "weaving". You will also understand the versatility and specific features of the Kimono. Even if one's shape changes, the same kimono can be worn with just some minor adjustments. Following the explanation, assisted by an instructor, you will have the unique chance to wear a Kimono.

Then you will experience another beautiful aspect of Japanese culture: the Tea Ceremony. In a Japanese tea room, you will learn the basic terms, utensils and customs associated with the art of the Tea Ceremony. Then you will enjoy eating classic Japanese sweets and drinking Matcha (powdered green tea) which the tea master skillfully serves. Finally you will try to make tea with the tea master's guidance. Through this process, in a very refined space, you will explore the origin of Japanese aesthetics, sensing "wabi", "sabi", and genuine, gracious hospitality. We will help you take photos in the tea room.
